8th Grade A Team
8th grade A traveled to Devine for our first game of the new year. Down three players our girls fought hard throughout all four quarters, and lost 50-10. Our big goal of the game was rebounding and only allowing one shot for the other team. We had girls playing lots of minutes due to foul trouble, but held their own against Devine. We are starting to become more aggressive and moving our feet on defense.
Stats for the game: Rebounds Mia R. 5, Addison A 5, Blake W. 1, Kolbie L. 4, Emma R. 3, Pyper B. 7 Steals: Addison A 2, Blake W 2, Kolbie L 2, Pyper B. 2 Blocks Mia R. 2, Pyper B. 3 Points:

8th Grade B Team
The Lady Bulldog 8th grade B team defeated Devine 18 to 17. The first time that they played Devine, the Bulldogs lost 5 to 20! That’s a pretty impressive sign of improvement. Madison Frazee and Karlee Hamilton did a great job rebounding, giving the girls many second chance opportunities. Jessa Haws, Jada Bergfeld, Gracelyn Upton, and Paloma Mendoza frustrated the Devine ball handlers, stifling Devine’s offense. The 8th grade B team record is 5 wins and 2 losses this season.
7th Grade A Team
The 7th Grade A Team fell to Devine 42-10. Despite coming out of the gate strong in the first quarter, we just couldn’t seem to make our shots hit. We grew from this defeat however, working on our rebounding and challenging ourselves by taking more shots. Rehnahta Gomez had 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Brooke Montelongo 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, 5 blocks and 2 points. Sienna Collazo 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Gracen Spruell had 2 rebounds. Aaliyah Khan had 2 rebounds. Gabrielle Colony added 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 points. Mackensie Clay 1 rebound and 1 block. Kassidy Sizemore 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Maddie Arriola racked up 2 points. Blu Rollo had 1 rebound, 2 steals and 2 points. The girls look forward to taking on the Uvalde Lady Lobos Thursday, January 18th here at home.
7th Grade B Team
7B Girls Basketball played against Devine last Thursday with the game not falling our way. The final score was 9-22. Although this was not the outcome that we have hoped for, there was some tremendous growth from both Ava Thompson and Harley Randall. Ava was able to score 7 out of the teams 9 points and Harley had 4 steals and 1 assist. Even though this was the first game back from the holiday break, the team did not give up and demonstrated good defense by limiting Devine to only 2 points the entire 4th quarter. The girls will continue to practice hard and grow as players for the next game against Uvalde on January 18th.
