Girls Volleyball Recap vs. Uvalde 9/16/24

8th Grade A Team

The 8th Grade Lady Bulldogs A Team played against Uvalde Monday night.  We fought hard but came up short after battling it out in three sets, losing the first set 21-25, winning the second 25-18, and finally 8-15 in the last set. The girls improved their game by moving around the court and communicating better with each other. Brooke Montelongo and Gracen Spruell powered through offensively and led the Bulldogs in serving with 18 and 12 aces respectively. Elle Vander Zee and Blu Rollo contributed 5 aces each. Hadley Rogers added 2 aces and Rehnata Gomez and Elizabeth D'Spain added 1 apiece. Maddie Arriola had a strong defensive game with 4 digs while Elle Vander Zee had 3 digs and Emma McClintock had 2. Blu Rollo had 8 assists and Cealy Billings with 7 assists. Elizabeth D'Spain and Brooke Montelongo put up 2 blocks each. We will travel to Devine next Monday as we take on the Fillies to close out the first round of district play.

8th Grade B Team
The Lady Bulldog 8th grade B team defeated Uvalde in 2 sets, 25 to 17 and 25 to 14.  Once again, strong serving was the key to success, but the Bulldogs also showed improvement in their passing, setting, and hitting.  Makayla and Makenzie Clay led the Bulldogs in serving, and Grace Walker and Veronica Ibarra had excellent passing.  This win improves the 8th grade B team's record to 3 wins and 0 losses.

7th Grade A Team
Bandera 7th Grade A team lost their match in two games against the Uvalde Lobos. This week our goal was to pass, set, and hit the majority of our offensive play. We incorporated transitions into our offensive spots and hitting coverage. We accomplished that goal! We are now understanding the game of volleyball and it is so GOOD to see! From the last game to now our serve receive has improved and we are starting to get the ball to our target, so that our hitters in the front row can attack! We had a lot of hustle plays made by the Bandera Bulldogs and as a coach we love to see it. Brenna Bryd and Harper Hartsfield led the team with digs, with 10 each. Natalie Hauer and Karina Young took control of the back row with a total of 10 digs together. Our setters, Colbie Lalanne and Harper Hartsfield were moving around the court to get the ball in the hands of our front row allowing our front row attackers to tally up 16 attacks on the night. Brenna Bryd with 6, Harper Hartsfield 3, Hailee Feller 3, Emily Short 2, Harper Hicks and Colbie Lalanne with 1 each.

7th Grade B Team
Bandera 7th Grade B team hosted Uvalde, winning the game in the 3rd set! After a tough loss in the first set, facing strong serving from Uvalde, we made some adjustments to our serve receive to improve our play. We had strong serving from Natalie Guel, Vanessa Gonzales, and Mika Gray. Along with great passing and teamwork from the entire team. Each girl played an important part in our win. Ashlynn Fajardo with multiple kills for the night. They have a lot to be proud of! Looking forward to our game next week against Devine. Go Bulldogs!
