Girls Volleyball Recap vs. Pearsall 9/30/24

8th Grade A Team
This past weekend the 8th Grade A Team traveled to Medina Valley for the Wildcat Volleyball Tournament. Despite a couple players out and major changes to the lineup and positions, these girls finished in 3rd place. Each time the girls step on the court they play with all their heart. We learned how to remain versatile and that communication with each other is key. We also learned to believe in ourselves. There can't be any doubt in our capabilities, especially when a coach thinks you can play different positions. They were able to end their fear and anxiety and get back into each game. Their persistence through self doubt and skepticism was even noted by fellow coaches and fans. I am so proud of their effort and progress in creating a high performance culture. (stats unavailable)

The Lady Bulldogs played the Pearsall Dogies Monday night for the 2nd round of district play. These ladies came out strong in set one winning with a score of 25-8. In set two, I challenged the girls with a lineup change and as we struggled to shake off some nerves and make some serves in the beginning  we defeated the thundering herd 25-12. I am so proud of all the hard work the girls have been putting in. They fought as a team and trusted each other through the process. This week we are going to continue to work on movement and communication and tighten up our defense so we are ready to take on the Lady Cats of Carrizo Springs next Monday, October 7th here in our doghouse. Stats recorded: Aces: Elle Vander Zee 10, Blu Rollo 1, Brooke Montelongo 6, Hadley Rogers 1, Elizabeth D'Spain 1, Rehnahta Gomez 2, Emma McClintock 7 and Gracen Spruell 13 Digs: Elle Vander Zee 3, Cealy Billings 3, Blu Rollo 1, Brooke Montelongo 6, Hadley Rogers 2, Emma McClintock 3, Gracen Spruell 4 Kills: Blu Rollo 1, Brooke Montelongo 3, Elizabeth D'Spain 2 and Maddie Arriola 2 Assists: Cealy Billings 2, Blu Rollo, Hadley Rogers, and Maddie Arriola with 1 and Gracen Spruell 3.

This past weekend 7th grade A Team traveled to Medina Valley to compete at their tournament. The first game was against Medina Valley and we lost in three sets. During the second game we took on Medina Valley and lost in two sets. For the last game we competed against Devine and lost in two hard fought sets! During this tournament we grew a lot as a team and found ways to get the job done. Our transitioning was improving throughout the tournament, and we are starting to understand the "why" of transitioning. This tournament was just what we needed to get lots of reps for volleyball and show the girls that working together is what makes the game great!
